Creative Critical Reflection

      1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?
The commercial uses multiple different things to make it enjoyable. The most noticeable being editing and background sounds. The editing allows the audience to become more engaged with the commercial and the product. The contrasting colors of each shot are a perfect example of this editing. The background music creates the fun, playful atmosphere of the commercial and adds excitement. Background music connects visuals with audio in order for the audience to achieve a more engaging viewing experience. The groups of people to most identify with the commercial is the gaming community. It is also likely to appeal to younger age groups and the high technology community and industry.

    2. How does your product engage with the audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
The commercial engages the audience through the music and the gameplay. The gameplay shown allows the audience to be drawn into the screen and to want to interact with the game. The music allows balances out the exciting gameplay shows. This creates an audio-visual experience for the audiences. It allows them to relate what they are seeing with music, and vice-versa. The commercial would be distributed on TV and through ads on platforms such as YouTube. Most likely on children and teen TV channels because with game consoles, that is the usual target audience. Also as YouTube advertisements on gaming videos and gaming livestreams.

    3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
For this project, I learned how to add background music to videos and how to create a voiceover. I had little experience with editing videos together before this project, and less experience with layering audios. I was able to record myself and multiple others for the voiceover at the end of the commercial. I also learned how to cut music and make it louder for the scene or more for background.

    4. How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware, and online - in this project?
The editing software I used for this project was iMovie. Once in iMovie, I placed the video clips in order and made the first clip brighter than the rest. I then added the background music and trimmed it to the preferred length. I finally compiled voice memos of myself and multiple others, saved them to my computer and them placed them as voiceover over the final clip of the commercial.
