The thriller film Final Destination initializes by first displaying the title of the film. Then proceeds to display the names of the cast and crew, producers, and the studios. Such names include costume designer, director of photography, production designer, and so on. Final Destination is a thriller franchise. Most or if not all their opening sequences contain very dark, aggressive, sinister images. Images prioritized in the opening sequence are spooky like toys staring directly to the screen. Other images of skull heads are also shown. Images of objects such as nails, knives, are images used typically used throughout the opening sequence of the film. The connotation that these images portrayed carry, is a meaning of death and horror. Most of these images are creepy and gloomy which creates suspense and fear. The eerie looking toys portrayed are a clear example of that as they generate fear by their appearance. Also, skull heads illustrate a meaning of death just as the images of the harmful objects are shown to demonstrate violence. From the opening sequence, the audience can sense a feeling of fear and suspense. Various elements are used to generate this form of feeling in the audience such as the type of images used as already stated above. The fade transitions which provide a spooky feeling the same way the color and tone of the images are displayed as very eldritch. This creates even more of a frightening affection as it is an ominous type of sound therefore increasing suspense and mystery within the audience. The sinister, frightening plot of this thriller film grabs the attention of the audience who enjoys viewing creepy, spooky films filled with aggression and violence. However, it’s dark lighting and the action involving psychological games and manipulation also attracts those who take pleasure in these types of movies. You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques. There were many angles, transitions and editing techniques used throughout this film to create a spookier like sensation. There were numerous zoom shots used to focus on creepy looking objects such as toys, fans and also focusing on the titles of certain books about death. The transitions created a very suspenseful affection as there were many fade transitions used. It was also very slow paced as this would intrigue the audience even more.
