Filming Blog: My House
On Saturday October 31st, I began filming my commercial. I began with filming the zoom in shot of the Nintendo Switches because the other 2 participants had not arrived yet. I set up the Switches on my dining room table and made sure the background was clear of any unneeded items. The Nintendo Switch was in its dock and was the central point of the shot. The Nintendo Switch Lites were set up next to the dock. Filming this shot was difficult because I was not able to keep my hand steady for the zoom in. After 15 minutes I was able to get used to the zoom in and prevent any shakiness.
A few hours later the participants arrived and we began filming the rest of the shots. We began with the starting shot of the commercial. Since I was not able to go to my sisters house we filmed this shot in my others sisters room to compensate. We set up the shot in one of the corners of the room. I sat on the bed and the Nintendo Switch box was in front of me. We set up a lamp inside of the box to create the effect that something magical was in the box. In the scene, I open the box and a light shines on my face as I look on surprised.
The next scene, we filmed an over the shoulder shot of me playing with the Nintendo Switch connected to the TV. I sat at the edge of the couch and put cushions underneath my arms so that the controller was visible. I used the game 'Spellbreak' to show off the high quality that Nintendo Switch offers.
Next we filmed the Joy-Cons being attached to the Nintendo Switch console. This shot was filmed in less than 15 minutes. In the scene I pick up the Nintendo Switch console that already has one Joy-Con attached, then I attached the second one and continued my game on the handheld console mode.
In the final scene, we had all 3 participants in the shot. I had the Nintendo Switch in the final mode to showcase, and the other 2 participants had the Nintendo Switch Lites. The camera person panned over all 3 participants playing and also filmed close ups on the devices. We were able to finish filming the entire commercial the same day. It took us about 2 hours to finish filming it all.
