Planning for my Music Video

 1. Song Title - Kids by Current Joys. The song was released in 2016.

2. Props - The music video will be a girl growing up and losing her imagination and true happiness due to real life setting in. The start of the music video will be at a park. No extra props will really be needed for these scenes. As she grows her interests change, so then the arcade scenes will be shown. Again, no further props except a drink/slushie and a phone will be needed. 

3. Schedule 

  • 11/18/20 - Solidify idea for music video and create storyboard.
  • 11/22/20 to 11/29/20 - Film all scenes for music video during Thanksgiving break.
  • 12/01/20 to 12/03/20 - Begin the editing process for the music video by uploading all of the shots and making sure they are the correct length. Also make sure the coloring for each shot is correct.
  • 12/05/20 to 12/06/20 - Finish any final editing that needs to be done and make sure everything is how I want it to look. 
4. Location List - Arcade area of the local flea market, the local park and my house. The arcade scenes will be shot on one day to avoid having to go back and dealing with different lightings and different people in the background. The park scenes will also be will also done in one day to avoid lighting and weather issues. The scenes at my house will most likely be the first to be filmed since they will be the easiest to execute. These will also be filmed in one take. 

5. Costumes - The start of the video will feature brighter colored clothes to reflect the happiness of the girls life. The clothes will progressively turn into neutral and darker colors to reflect the girls emotions and reality. The costumes towards the beginning will be graphic t-shirts, shorts and sneakers to reflect that fashion is not something important when someone is young. As the girl because more pressured by her reality she'll begin to dress in jeans and blouses in order to please those around her. The video will end with the girl wearing an outfit that truly reflects her, despite how much she wanted to please others. 

6. Backup Plan - If the weather does not allow the park scenes to be filmed, I will film those respective scenes at the YMCA or another similar gymnasium. Since the arcade is indoors I don't believe I will need to film elsewhere but if need be I would film at another arcade: Dave and Buster's.

       1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?                The commercial uses multiple different things to make it enjoyable. The most noticeable being editing and background sounds. The editing allows the audience to become more engaged with the commercial and the product. The contrasting colors of each shot are a perfect example of this editing. The background music creates the fun, playful atmosphere of the commercial and adds excitement. Finding Fonts

 Once I returned from my trip, there was a time we were not filming. I took advantage of this and began looking for fonts that would fit our opening sequence. I am editing on iMovie, so I looked into the fonts that are offered on there. I couldn't find any fonts that matched the ideas we had previously come up with. I spoke with my group about the font issue, and we looked into other editing platforms. It turned out that iMovie was the easiest place for all of us to edit. So, I became more open minded about the fonts that we had on iMovie. I started experimenting with the different fonts. To do this, I selected one of the clips from what we had previously filmed and put it into iMovie. Once there, I uploaded the clip into a new project and made sure it was the correct length to display the title. Then, I went to the title and fonts option and tested many different fonts. Commercial Planning

  1. Props - The commercial is about Nintendo Switch the main prop will be the Switch and the Joy-Cons. Other props will include the Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch dock, a high speed HDMI cable, the Joy-Con grip, headphones, and the AC adapter.  2. Costumes - The commercial will include three people. The three subjects will be wearing casual everyday clothes. The outfits will most likely be t-shirts or sweatshirts, jeans and leggings, and sneakers.  3. Schedule 10/21/20 - Decide what I will do the commercial on and begin researching for it. Find out about conventions and common aspects of the commercial.  10/22/20 - Plan out the commercial and how many people I will include, how many locations, etc. 10/25/20 - Create storyboard so I can have an idea of the way I will film and edit the commercial. 10/27/20 - Film in locations 1 and 2, possibly 3. 10/28/20 - Film in location 3 if it was not done the previous day. 10/29/30 - Edit the commercial. 4.
