Our Pitch
The final task project requires our group to produce a 2 minute intro to a movie that we are creating. Our group all agreed to use the same continuous theme of suspense and thriller in the movie intro. The movie genre thriller can be characterized as holding suspense, anxiety, or excitement. It draws the audience in by leaving them on the edge of their seat throughout the entire film. Our group chose thriller as our genre because it is a fun and interesting yet challenging topic to film. We began thinking of similar movies in the thriller, suspense genre that we all enjoyed. Topics of murder, stalking, and more began to arise in our discussions. For example, one of the members were inspired by the show Defending Jacob, and wanted our movie to contain elements of child murder. We began to explore various plots and detailed stories that we could incorporate as our main focus and "problem."
The first concept we explored was that of a child murderer. However, there was some disagreement between the group members, so we expanded the idea. The idea grew into the concept of a series of kidnappings. One of our group members suggested the idea of a mother using her child to lure kids to her home and kidnap them. The group agreed upon liking this idea and we chose it as our first pitch. We continued to brainstorm within the thriller genre, and found another idea that was more on the mystery side. 14 This idea consisted of a child's father getting lost. The father then leaves clues for his daughter and the daughter begins to unravel the mystery. The child starts to see the clues her father left her and discovers what truly happened. We wanted to do a film that would keep the audience intrigued the most. We ended up choosing the kidnapping concept as this idea would promote curiosity. It would also leave the audience at the edge of their seats wanting to know what happens next.
